Peer Reviews & Local Authority Assistance
We have enjoyed an excellent working relationship with many Local Authority Environmental Health Departments for a very long time, including a variety of methods of assistance. Over the years we have provided formal and informal training to individuals and whole departments, helped Local Authorities formulate their own acoustic criteria and provided peer reviews of acoustic reports submitted to them. There are many EHO’s who know that if they would like a discussion about any acoustic matters they are facing, we are only a phone call away.
Our Background
For years we had the pleasure of teaching part of the Institute of Acoustics post graduate Diploma at Leeds Metropolitan and Beckett University. Steve taught the Noise and Vibration Control Module between 1983 and 2010, when David took over the role until the university stopped offering the course after the Coronavirus pandemic.
This means we have had the privilege of teaching and mentoring many Environmental Health Officers and Environmental Protection Officers the specialism of acoustics and happily this has continued into excellent working relationships. It also means that we understand the pressures that EHO’s / EPO’s face and also that obtaining these specialist qualifications in acoustics is more difficult due to time, budget and availability constraints.

We can provide any level of expert assistance needed, from informal phone calls and support to peer reviews of other reports submitted as part of a planning application, training sessions or professional witness evidence and attendance at Appeal.
Our aim is to ensure that all our reports are prepared to the highest standard and contain all the information needed by Local Authority members to analyse our findings, but always welcome discussion about the intricacies of any project and the potential difficulty of ensuring consent conditions are practicable, achievable and enforceable.
