Acoustics often has a reputation as being a complicated subject. We have been told before that what we do is black magic – we assure you that it isn’t, but it is a specialised, narrow branch of physics. What We Do

S & D Garritt provide pragmatic, technically accurate acoustic consultancy for a wide range of clients, including architects, developers, contractors and planning consultants. We undertake Noise Impact Assessments, acoustic surveys and design work including guidance on the acoustic implications of Approved Document O, and sound insulation testing for projects ranging from individual buildings to large residential, commercial and infrastructure developments.

Our work supports planning applications, feasibility studies, design development and compliance assessments. We also provide specialist input where projects involve more complex acoustic constraints, including environmental noise, mitigation design, sound insulation and complaint investigation.

We work closely with clients and design teams to provide clear, proportionate advice that can be applied at the appropriate level for each project.

Who We Are

Established in 1981, S & D Garritt Ltd is a family-run acoustic consultancy with over 40 years of experience. We are members of the Association of Noise Consultants and the Institute of Acoustics, and are ANC Registered Testers for sound insulation testing under Approved Document E of the Building Regulations.

We provide local support and nationwide consultancy, working across England, Wales and Scotland on both straightforward and technically complex schemes. Our advice is intended to be practical, defensible and clearly explained, helping clients address technical and regulatory requirements without unnecessary complexity or cost.
