S & D Garritt Ltd are independent acoustic consultants providing clear, technically robust and pragmatic advice to developers, designers, contractors and local authorities across the UK. Our work spans environmental noise, building acoustics, planning support and specialist acoustic design, with a focus on proportionate solutions that are practical to implement.

The practice was established in 1981 by Stephen Garritt as S.F. Garritt and has developed into a family-run consultancy with a strong reputation for technical rigour and straightforward advice. S & D Garritt Ltd was incorporated in 2003 and today continues that practice, combining decades of experience with a modern, pragmatic approach.

We have been members of The Association of Noise Consultants (ANC) since 2006 and are also members of the Institute of Acoustics (IOA). David became a member in 2005, Elizabeth in 2009 and Steve was originally an IOA member in 1977.

Acoustics has been part of our lives from a young age, accompanying site visits as teenagers and learning the profession first-hand. We may be among the few siblings to have settled the classic “your music is too loud” debate with a sound level meter.
